CHICAGO (AP) — Davis Martin added another impressive performance to his breakout season for the Chicago White Sox on Saturday night. Martin struck out seven in six sparkling innings against the crosstown rival Cubs at Rate Field.

Davis Martin showcased an impressive performance, striking out seven batters in six innings, leading the Chicago White Sox to an 8-3 victory over the Cubs.

Davis Martin lowered his ERA to 1.62 — the second-best in the majors — in the Chicago White Sox’s 2-1 victory Sunday.

Martin's six wins and seven quality starts are both tied for most in the American League, and his 1.61 ERA and 0.98 WHIP (across 56 innings) are both third-best in the AL. His next start is tentatively slated for next weekend against the Giants in San Francisco.

Davis Martin tossed six innings of four-hit ball to lead the Chicago White Sox past Toronto 3-0 for their first three-game sweep of the Blue Jays in 10 years.

While Opening Day starter Shane Smith figures things out down at Triple-A Charlotte, left-hander Anthony Kay has posted a 2.45 ERA in his three outings, right-hander Erick Fedde is at 3.38 and right-hander Sean Burke has settled down to 3.60.

The Chicago White Sox have come out looking like a completely different team this season. While many teams didn't have to think much when playing the South Siders last year, they are a scrappy bunch in 2026.
