The death toll from a Russian missile attack that flattened a Kyiv apartment building rose Friday to 24, including three teenagers, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said as he led the mourning for one of the deadliest attacks on the capital in the 4-year-old war.

Russian forces launched hundreds of strikes across Ukraine overnight, with direct hits by drones recorded at 15 locationsm Ukraine's Air Force said. Meanwhile, the bodies of 528 Ukrainian soldiers were returned a day after Russia and Ukraine exchanged prisoners of war.

Rescue workers ended search operations Friday at the devastated building, which was struck this week during Russia’s heaviest air attack on the Ukrainian capital this year.

Last month, Ukraine managed to liberate more land than Russia seized – the first time Moscow suffered a net loss of territory since Ukraine’s 2024 Kursk incursion.
