Target (TGT) is getting into the overnight delivery arena to stay competitive with rivals Amazon (AMZN) and Walmart (WMT), by establishing sorting centers and using gig workers to complete deliveries.

Target is testing delivery routes from stores that use drivers from its Shipt subsidiary, Michael Fiddelke, executive vice president and chief operating officer, said on a Q4 earnings call this month.
