Ex-Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick says replacing Robert Lewandowski at FC Barcelona is easier said than done
The recent success of FC Barcelona is down to two men who came from Bayern Munich: Hansi Flick and Robert Lewandowski. Those two came within two years of each other and helped drag the Catalans out of the deep hole they dug themselves in.
Hansi Flick reportedly stops Barcelona's move for Alessandro Bastoni due to tactical concerns and the need to find a faster partner for Pau Cubarsí.
“Real Madrid, their President and their board of directors deeply regret the passing of the father of Hansi Flick, Barcelona’s manager,” Madrid’s statement said. “Real Madrid wishes to express its condolences and affection to his family and all his loved ones. Rest in peace.”
Despite a personal loss, Hansi Flick will take charge of Barcelona in Sunday's El Clásico against Real Madrid.
Eric Garcia has performed a number of different roles for Barcelona this season under Hansi Flick and has become a key player for the German coach. Flick has said this season he thinks Garcia could be a future captain of the side and is already reportedly planning on how best to use the Spain star in the 2026-27 campaign.
Hansi Flick praised Barcelona's La Masia graduates after a rotated side fell to a 1-0 defeat at Alaves, ending their quest for a 100-point season.
