Severe thunderstorm watches have been posted for most of the area through 9pm this evening. A watch highlights the potential for a few strong to severe thunderstorms, capable of strong and damaging wind gusts and hail. Any thunderstorm, severe or not, can produce heavy downpours and frequent lightning.
