One person has died, and dozens of people were injured, including firefighters, following an explosion and fire at a shipyard on Staten Island, according to the FDNY officials.
A fire broke out at Chalmette Refining Friday afternoon after residents reported hearing a large explosion, according to the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office. The fire was under control as of around 2 p.m., and no injuries were reported, John Rahaim, director of St. Bernard Homeland Security, said.
