Letterman returned to "The Late Show" to bid farewell to the show he originated in 1993 before handing over the reins to Colbert in 2015.

Late-night legend David Letterman has made no secret of his contempt for CBS’ decision to cancel “The Late Show,” the program he hosted from 1993 until he retired in 2015.

The finale will feature an all-star parade: Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, John Oliver, Letterman himself, Tom Hanks, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Pedro Pascal, and the Strokes.
